Job Description

As a Data Engineering Manager at IVC Evidensia, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the data landscape for the UK and Europe's largest veterinary care group. Your responsibilities will involve leading a team of data engineers, designing and implementing robust data pipelines, and ensuring the integrity and accessibility of critical data assets.

This position requires a strategic thinker who can translate business needs into scalable data solutions, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration within the tech department. You will be instrumental in driving data-driven decisions across over 900 practices and referral hospitals, contributing directly to the shared purpose of happier animals and owners.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in data engineering, with a strong background in managing data teams.
  • Expertise in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data architectures and pipelines.
  • Proficiency in relevant data technologies and programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
  • A strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
  • Applicants must possess the existing right-to-work in the UK or be able to secure it independently.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary of £71,872.55.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression within a leading European group.
  • Access to a supportive and innovative work environment focused on employee wellbeing.
  • Contribution to a meaningful mission of improving animal and owner happiness.
  • Flexible working arrangements, including UK remote options.

How to Prepare

For Nigerian and African immigrants aiming for a Tech role like this Data Engineering Manager position, it's crucial to present your skills and experience in a format that resonates with UK employers. Focus on showcasing your leadership in data engineering, highlighting projects where you've managed teams and delivered impactful data solutions. Ensure your CV is polished, formatted to UK standards, and clearly articulates your technical proficiencies and problem-solving abilities. Your LinkedIn profile should be up-to-date, mirroring your CV and actively engaging with the UK tech community.

While this role prefers UK-based applicants with right-to-work, if you are a foreign applicant with existing UK status (e.g., Graduate Visa, Skilled Worker Visa already sponsored by another employer), emphasise how your current status makes you a viable candidate. For those without immediate right-to-work, consider how your transferable skills and UK-recognised credentials (if any) can still make you stand out, though direct sponsorship is not advertised.

  • Tailor your CV to highlight UK-centric experience and terminology, even if your experience is international.
  • Ensure your LinkedIn profile is professionally updated, showcasing your technical projects and leadership roles.
  • Prepare a concise cover letter that directly addresses the job requirements and your eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Be ready to discuss your visa status and right-to-work clearly during initial enquiries.
  • Research IVC Evidensia's data strategy to align your application with their vision.

Visa Sponsorship & Foreigner Eligibility

Visa sponsorship is NOT advertised for this Data Engineering Manager role, with a strong preference for UK-based applicants who already possess the existing right-to-work. Foreign applicants currently residing in the UK with valid work permits or those who can secure independent right-to-work may still apply. If your status is borderline or you have questions about eligibility, it is advisable to confirm directly with the employer during your application process.
